Lynne Finlay is a bi-coastal artist that resides in Mill Valley, California and  Wilmington, North Carolina. Graduating from Rhode Island School of Design in Graphic Arts, Lynne has spent most of her career creating artwork for others and teaching at the University and High School levels. She has organized and led multiple art trips to France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Her students studied the art and culture of the region and created drawings and paintings on location. COVID saw a reduction in travel, but recently plans are in place to hold workshops, travel, sketch and paint away from her home base. While traveling Lynne creates pen drawings, watercolors and plein aire paintings. Her pen and ink sketches, urban drawings and travel journaling are used as studies for later studio work. Lynne captures each location from her point of view, focusing on the mood, color and uniqueness of her surroundings.
